Pandora’s Clock
Ever heard of Pandora? Nope It’s not the 1996 TV Show nor it will remind you of a box but this time it’s about heavy metal rock. Pandora’s clock is Carlo Perez on guitars/vocals, Reggie Aguilar on drums and John Gapuz on Bass. Released under Venom Records the first full length CD surely is a new breed of metal band emerges.
The Official Press Release
Although Pandora’s Clock does not want to be recognized as just another metal band, their first music video “LIFE,” also their first single, is as metal as metal can be. And as metal rockers go, the entire record – except maybe one or two – are filled with so much anger, hate and displeasure in life, as if it really happened to the writer of the song. When asked, Carlo simply brushed it aside and moved on, so typically, as a rock star would.
Sometime later, with the unexpected fall-out between Carlo and Jho, Pandora’s Clock found itself without a bass player. John Gapuz was then introduced by Reggie, and John quickly blended in with the guys. With John, Pandora’s Clock was once again complete.
Off To The Recording Studio for the First Album - A quick review
The first song they recorded is Bato Bato Sa Langit (aka B.B.S.L.) and it quickly became the studio favorite, but it was quickly overshadowed by the song SINO, as Carlo admits. The song MY SIDE OF THE STORY originally was the band’s first single and first music video offering, it actually being one of Carlo’s favorite. He was out-voted by the guys who preferred the song LIFE.
Two of the most serious songs in the album are SONG FOR ANGEL and HATE. Song for Angel is about abortion. HATE is about child abuse with a twist — the child died and came back from the dead to avenge his death. Reggie wrote the chorus melody on this song.
On a lighter note, it seems funny that one of the best songs in the album is a bonus track, recorded at home, using only an acoustic guitar. It is the very last song in the album, entitled IKAW (Bagong Umaga). When asked about it, Carlo simply said with a smile, “This song is actually the closest to my heart”.
GABI NANAMAN is another song that is quite appealing. The song has a very up-beat tempo and lyrics that most people can relate to.
Other songs that are included in the record are NOSTALGIA, DUST TO DUST and 4½ YEARS. The song NOSTALGIA is included in the limited promotional CD that was released earlier this year and 4 ½ YEARS almost anchored the said promotional CD before being replaced by MY SIDE OF THE STORY.
